OSO Quizzes and Respondus LockDown Browser

Quizzes are a way for your instructor to check what you've learned in the class. Quizzes can be formal like a mid-term exam, or just an informal check for understanding. Either way, there are some things that you should know that will help you manage your quizzes better.

(Be sure to check the course syllabus or ask your instructor if you are using Respondus LockDown Browser in your course(s).)

Note: it is recommended you take any quizzes or exams on a laptop or desktop computer browser. DO NOT use the Canvas Student App to take quiz/exam!

Quizzes Details and Settings

Use the navigation bar at the bottom of the Google Slide screen to navigation through the slides.

Respondus LockDown Browser

Your instructor may require you to use Respondus LockDown Browser or Monitor (a webcam required to use Monitor) for completing a quiz/exam online in Canvas. The LockDown Browser is software that needs to be downloaded and installed on a Windows or MAC OS computer you will use to take your quiz/exam. Your instructor will provide you the link to download the software. An iPad may also be used to take a quiz/exam but you should notify your instructor about using an iPad prior to taking the quiz/exam. Note: you will need to have privileges on your computer to be allowed to install program software.

Try it Out

Let's set up LockDown Browser and take a quiz using it. The first step is to download and install the Chesapeake LockDown Browser. Follow the onscreen instructions for installing the browser.

After you have installed the LockDown Browser for Chesapeake courses, you will need to log out of this course. LockDown Browser will not start with any other windows or programs running! When you are ready, log out of this course. Open the LockDown Browser, log into Canvas, open this course go to the Respondus Practice Quiz link (the next page) in this module.

Submit your Practice Quiz, log out of LockDown Browser, open your regular browser and log back into this course to continue.
